How to Be a Successful Developer Questions Answered Series

As someone who only relatively recently joined the workforce as a software engineer, I have seen and heard a lot of different ideas about how to have a successful career as a developer. Some people say you should get an advanced degree. Some think college is mostly useless. Some people talk about coding bootcamps. Some people think the effectiveness of these camps are exaggerated. Some people think that computer science theory is important and to focus on that before anything else. Some people think that practical experience with a technology is more important. There an infinite number of topics of debate within the computing community on how to be successful as a developer.

This leaves a person aspiring to be a developer with a lot of questions and confusion about what they should do to maximize their success. Truthfully, there is quite a bit of demand for software developers/engineers/programmers so even if the path someone takes does not maximize their possible success in the field, it does not mean they will not be employable and successful.

My goal with this "How to Be a Successful Developer Questions Answered" Series is to share articles from other authors and sometimes just my own thoughts on answers to the effectiveness of various approaches in achieving success. In the long run, I hope to develop a full website with guides to different paths to a career in software development/coding and how to pick which path is right for you based on your own personal situation.

Look out for the first post in this series about full stack development!
